New Canaan Retreat

The landscape design for an existing Georgian home in New Canaan’s historic Mount Lebanon area received a complete renovation with the addition of a new pool cabana. The tiered rear garden is home to a welcoming pool and inset spa embraced by low fieldstone falls and softened with a lush, soft palette of perennials and bulbs. An outdoor kitchen and dining terrace flank the new cabana to the east, while a ping-pong table and outdoor shower lie at its western edge. Bluestone, gravel, and lawn commingle within the ground plane while clay planters dot the landscape, providing opportunities for seasonal interest throughout the garden. Cubed Linden trees create an aerial hedge to lend privacy and separation between the classic formal brick terraces at the rear of the home and the clean, almost contemporary language present within the recessed pool garden.
