The Border

A personal passion project of Principal Joseph Werner, the Border Garden is an embrace of the landscape experiment. Dappled in the variable shade of mature Hemlocks, the landscape is home to a variety of light conditions, allowing for all but the most sun-loving species to thrive. While an ever-evolving palette of perennials grants interest throughout the spring, summer, and fall, evergreen elements and linear gravel pathways provide necessary structure and winter engagement. Lending contrast and excitement to the garden, rich jewel-toned flowers and foliage punctuate the emerald landscape. Simple black tutuers give support to twining Clematis, while a diamond wire trellis is lost beneath a curtain of flowering Chocolate Vine, draping the architecture in its palmately compound leaves.
